SGU : Stargate Universe
« on: August 27, 2010, 06:30:58 PM »
What's your view ?

Most people say it was crap up to Episode 11

Did it get better ?

I'll watch it cuz it's still Stargate, but it's kind of meh.  It seems to be a Stargate themed "Star Trek: Voyager".

I don't think I like it that much either.  At the end of every episode, I wasn't particularly eager about what happens next.

I watched it mostly when I was stressed out and I didn't like the waiting, because a lot of times you have to wait.  I also don't like Chloe, I just skip all her bits (like I used to skip all the bits with Jack and Kate in Lost) ;D

I'm not entirely sure about it now.  I'd have to watch it again to be sure I still don't like it.

Going through the episode list, I suppose it was episode 11 was where it started to become interesting, with the all the aliens and Rhona Mitra and stuff :D

If you've endured the first half of the first season, you may as well watch the rest of it.

I don't think I like that Scott guy either, I've been giving him the old shift+right arrow from before I even knew his name 8)

The new season is staring on the 28th, that's tomorrow!  I think I'm excited about it, there isn't a lot of new science fiction that I watch these days.

It seems to much like what happened to Heroes after the first season.  3 episodes or so on one story arc only to stop midway and revamp poo.  Make up your mind about how it's supposed to go THEN start making the episodes.

Make up your mind about how it's supposed to go THEN start making the episodes.

Obeying this would make 90% of US TV 200% better. (Babylon 5 being the poster child for how it should work)

People that make TV shows should stop trying to invent the permanent money-maker and settle for a beginning, a middle and an end. I am fed up with the millions of shows that have an attractive beginning, a saggy early middle, four hundred thousand reboots, and either get poo-canned before the end or have a ridiculously anti-climactic non-ending. (I am looking at you X-Files).

There have been a few exceptions to that, but they get poo-canned for no apparent reason other than confusingly, their own success?

It's a conspiracy I tell ye!

What on earth does "poo-canned" mean?

I think it's from the new Heinz range.

Stargate Universe has been cancelled now.  And ^yummy^ :D

Apparently the cast found out via Twitter and and and all the websites keep going on about Sci SyFy making another bad choice or about how maybe they shouldn't have made Stargate spin-offs.

I was getting excited with all the new Aliens they were bringing into it.  They should've had an alien version of Captain Archer board the ship with his talking space dog.  Maybe he'd say "It's been a long road getting from there to here.  It's been a long time, but my time is finally near" just before dying.  I'd cry if that happened.  Because it'd be emotional.

I did like it a lot more recently, this second season was a lot better.  I hate cliffhanger endings and mid-season breaks >:(

I think I prefer it over Atlantis.  Except when the Asgard came back, that made me happy.  I was very depressed about the Asgard dying in SG-1, I couldn't sleep that night :D

I agree, this second season improved it tremendously.  I'm said to see it go but hopefully they'll be able to wrap it up in a proper way.

^ It is probably because the die-hard fans of SG1 franchise didn't wanted to see their favorite show turning into a Battlestar Galactica type of TV entertainment.
Though I love SG1 and Atlantis, I must say I was impressed with the second season of SGU, more intense and showing a lot more substance then its previously "sisters". And featuring - by far - much hotter ladies :o.

....the same happened to Enterprise after just 4 seasons.

Which was 3.9 seasons too late.
