my safari browser will not play youtube videos.

I just get a black box and the play control never pops up.

My IPad uses Safari and doesn't play most youtube videos, but it plays some. I use it for work, so I don't need youtube enough on it to worry about it. Christ and Dweez should know what you need to get it sorted.

I've had an iphone for years so have gotten used to not watching videos in Safari.  There's a separate iPhone app for it.  Never knew the iPad would play some youtube videos at all.

no. the youtube videos had worked before and I didn't have to install anything extra. and now that I think about yahoo videos don't work either.

when I use my brothers Ipad its never had a problem with playing any youtube videos.

I am not behind a firewall or behind a proxy.
I dont know what traffic shaping is . Im going to have to google that and youtube works okay in fire fox

The iPhone,iPod touch, and the iPad do not support flash. Youtube is accessible via safari on the aforementioned devices as it will load the mobile version in which every featured video is optimized for mobile devices that do not support flash. Also like Dweez said there's the youtube app, which is how the videos will be played anyway if accessed via safari.

As far as Safari on a Mac, as obvious as this may sound perhaps there's a missing plugin? Also, one time i had a very similar issue with firefox and it turned out that clearing my cache was a quick fix.

I realize this is an older post but what the heck.
