Well.... the story unfolds like this......

First alert ....was a bit before 12.00 (midnight) when my husband announces "there is a mouse in the wardrobe"! I sigh and get out and place my humane mouse trap in the wardrobe and making sure the doors of the wardrobe are closed snugly. I try to drift off to sleep with the little scratching noises more than a little annoying.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz sleeping .....when the trap makes that shutting sound. Arrrrrrr! Can't believe it already has the mouse.. wonderful the mouse is caught. .............er no.................. the mouse just knocked it. Oh well. reset and hope next time.

zzzzzzzzzzzzz sleeping (not soundly) and tickling on my head! OMG the mouse is sitting on my head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i jump out of bed turning light on and there he is running over pillow, standing on hind legs looking about till i move and then he darts onto floor and under bed. Clock chimes 2.00

Cat meows to come into room. Great idea. He can catch mouse. Tempted to go to the sofa to sleep as very tired now, but manage to drift into napping mode. Cat is aware of mouse and is guarding the floor space. OMG................... the mouse has just run over me again and leaps of my nose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and under the bed.

I have had enough now and 2.45. With a long cane in my hands i scramble about on the floor and manage to knock mouse out from under the bed and he promptly runs back again 2 to 3 times. Cat is USELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

No good will have to leave it till morning.

Napping again when commotion of cat and mouse meet!!!! Yippee. I love the cat for catching mouse. (not for bringing it in though).

Come on ' out you go'  and take mouse with you...... but NO!!!!!!!! the cat decides to let the mouse go and leaves it under the radiator. Off i trot in haste to get my special mouse catching ice cream tub. :-)

but mousey didn't want to get in it and darts from wide open space under cats 4 legs and under the bed!!!!!!!!!! Clock chimes 4.00

So bloody tire now that manage to sleep till 7.00 and mouse obviously thanking his lucky stars to be free from cats mouth. The cat has lost interest and goes out.

OUTCOME... 9.00 i decide to feed the mouse biscuit crumbs in trap and he (after1/2  hour) flips the trap shut with himself inside. So i happily but tiredly walk him across the road and let him go into hedge of neighbors.

Really sweet mouse.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lol, that's hilarious teech.  Sorry for your sleeplessness.  I would have freaked out too if I had a mouse crawl over my head while I was trying to sleep. :o

Mice these days are so clever they should get the vote.

I have had that situation many times with the plague of mice that currently reside in Wandsworth, thankfully though, I have managed to successfully barricade our place against them.

Good story Teech, and I hope your moggy realises he's a cat soon, so the mice stay out for good.

We have rats and nothing we do gets rid of them.  Then again, the environs surrounding the house are breeding grounds for them so...

Funny story, teech!  Maybe not that funny for you when a mouse ran over you.  ;D

I've never had mice or rats in the house. I have legions of carpenter ants eating my roof though. But at least they let me sleep at night.  :D

....I have legions of carpenter ants...

I'd love to see what's in their toolbags. Little weeny chisels and hammers perhaps.

Damned chainsaws and other power tools by the looks of the damage they do.  ::)

Well i can tell you now..... had it of been a spider i wouldn't have been in the room. Had it have been a rat then i may well now have survived the night. lol
The  mention of ants! I have a sneaky idea that ants may take over the world they are such a great work together community that they could conquer anything. Bees too.
