Horse

As a lot of you know, in Europe we have a problem with meat at the moment.
A lot of beef products has horse meat in it.

Being a meat eater I don't really mind, other than the packaging not stating it had horse meat in.
I have eaten horse in France and Switzerland and yes it's not too bad.
I do buy all my meat from the local Butchers, so no problem for me ( I hope ;D )
Most super markets are shocked to find this out, I mean what is your sausages  going to contain if your buying 20 sausages for a £1.00 ( $1.49).
Who is to fault really  ???
The supplier or the supermarket forcing prices down or the public demanding cheap food.

Friend works in the food industry states all meat is traceable from birth, so who is fooling who.
I would guess more is to come.

Yeah, the problem isn't the horse meat per se. The thing is people should be able to rely on what they're purchasing to eat. Unfortunately it's been about 20 yrs I don't dare buy a choripán outside of a football stadium.  ;)

I know it's just cuz I'm from the U.S. but eating horse is just off-putting to me.

Horse meat is off-putting to me too and I'm not from USA.

My Italian and French friends ate horse regularly when they were back home, and personally I cannot see the problem with it as it doesn't seem much different from eating a deer to me (that's from a vegetarian, pro animal welfare perspective).

Of course, there is a big issue with products that have inaccurate ingredients listed, as there could be an incident whereby Marmite gets into the food chain.  God forbid.
Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

There is an exception to every rule, apart from this one.

I don't really like to eat animals that are kept as pets.

I'd have no problem eating horse if I knew about it, but it is disconcerting when sellers start adding strange things to food without the consumers knowledge.

Here eating horse meat is really normal and reccomend it in particular to anemic people. I am not a great meat lover and I don't like horse meat at all. I think when we buy prepared foods or sausages, wurstel, hamburger and so on we really don't know what they use and I am really skeptical about what they sell in supermarkets
