Cleaning the Fridge.
« on: March 31, 2013, 05:58:25 PM »
Dang, that grossness just sneaks up on you. Pulled all the shelves, gave em a good wash.

Conclusions: Dairy leaks. Even in sealed containers. Not much can be done about this aside from wiping the shelf down regularly.

Produce: GAH. Try not to buy it until I need it. If I don't need it, I shouldn't buy it. I recently read an article that says mixing produce, even if it is only two days old, is a bad idea because it causes enzymes to be shared.

Aside from keeping everything in containers, I'm not sure what else can be done.

Our fridge is a mixed up mash of everything needed. ;D
Never had food poisoning from it, so don't worry about it. :D

One good (and cheap!!) way of cleaning the fridge is with with baking soda. You make a solution and wipe with a cloth. It neutralizes both acids and basis and it's a fantastic deodorant for most of fridge smells. (It's also good for baby's vomit on clothing and rugs but that's another story  ;D). If something is stuck you can make a paste with a little water and rub carefully. That's common in a "No Frost" fridge if you don't wipe a leaking immediately. (BTW, No Frost fridges are one of the best invention of man after booze!) BUT DON'T put it over aluminum. For plastics is A+.

EAST COAST MAYONNAISE, that I can forgive. But you bought low fat East Coast Mayonnaise, and now you must fight me. Activate your stargate and ring over here so we can engage in bouts of pugilism.

And then we can get drunk and rob some places, because you have a working stargate.
