Actually Autumn, I'm pretty sure you're the one who's correct.  Usage of a/an depends on the sound not the actual letter of following word.  So "an Ess-Tee-Dee" would be correct (I'm almost sure)...but number one rule of Fight Club is you don't golly with a sysop.
