how do i

play a game installed on pc with out inserting a disc to start it from ?
Original game, installed on my PC, but i hate having to put a cd in every time i want to play it
Game  - Medieval total war 2.
Not a massive pc gamer but i do like this style of game.

Create an ISO of the disc and mount it on a virtual drive.

I think you will still have to mount the file after starting your comp, so it's not completely free of effort.

That's circumvention of copy protection.

While game producers DO NOT LIKE people making images of their game disks, it is generally permissible under law to make one back up copy of the software that you own.

A No-CD is just flat out bypassing copy protection, which is not permissible under the DMCA, and could in fact lead to troubles for the site simply by being mentioned.

Smokester, with most drive emulation software, you can set it to start with your computer, and simply leave the disk image mounted.

Medieval total war 2 is a badass game, and a roommate took the second disk when moving out, just to be a richard.

During the eventual steam summer sale, I have seen Medieval total war 2 hit a price point of two dollars, so that might be an option if you're interested.

Steam summer sale is on now, that game is currently seven dollars, but may see future price dips as the sale continues.

If you add the game to your steam wishlist, they will drop you an email when the price goes down.

For the next 20 hours or so you can get the total war grand master collection for $40

It's all the total war games and all the DLC packs in one neat package. I'm wavering because it's $40, but I'll probably bite the bullet this time.

About the only downside to this is that you need a steam account, but that's kind of a duh with paid download content these days. At least I've dodged origin so far. That bless'ed shitbox tries to creep onto my computer any time I update sims 3.
