this may seem like a dumb question, but; when they detonate the nuke underground, does that mean the bomb is buried, then set off?

It's a way to minimize the spread of the fallout...

However that just means the radiation is buried, so there's not much going on out there probably...

yea, i figured it was some way of keeping the damage to a minimum

But i like to think that there are huge top secret military complexes hundreds of feet underground, where they carry out tests and research that no one will ever know about.

Places like Umbrella Corporation.  :D
