Apple will sell you a whole computer all joined together. More pennies, possibly: less stress - definitely.

Not if you want a laptop with a 17" display, they won't.

Ebay, on the other hand...

Boot Camp, Parallels or whatever to run my licensed Windows software would add stress. My games won't run on a Mac without a work-around, Pinnacle Game Profiler doesn't have a Mac version... I'll stick with what I know and keep those "pennies".

That isn't really a laptop now, is it.

I have progressively downsized from 17 to 15 and then a couple of years ago to a 13" Retina and I have to say that I couldn't go back. I had to use my daughter's 15 the other week and I was amazed at how big and clunky it is. And HEAVY too. (... at about 5 pounds or something!)

What can I say.. I like real estate.

... and my 13 incher connects to the 24 inch display on my desk just fine.

You really need to find a new hobby.

And stay away from the cheese grater.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Now can you see why I want a 17 incher.

I finally got through to a human support person over the phone. He said I would be bumped up the list. About 15 minutes later I got an email with a tracking number. \o/

Let's hope that's the beginning of the end.

Funny how individuals can turn things around in a breath.

Got all the kinks ironed out and my new PC is up and running. \o/

What kind of CPU does it take to get a 7.9 Windows Experience Index rating?

Are you sure it won't lay bricks?

It can't lay brick but it'll keep your beer cold.

When I upgrade memory on a machine I'm not familiar with I run the Crucial scanner. It tells you what you have and what you can have. Then you can buy  it wherever it's cheapest.

Compressed air > vacuum cleaner (static electricity from a vac can bork electronics) But you probably already know that.

You can use Acronis True Image to clone you OS to a new hard drive if you are satisfied with the way it was running. Saves a lot of time updating and reinstalling your programs. Have you backed up your data to CD/DVD or flash drives yet?

I can give you a link if you want it for free.
