Was using ff at that time but
If I open iTunes or calibre library PC freezes then starts.( almost like pc catches up with itself ). CPU light permanently red at the time of crash.
Can crash re encoding video as well.

I think it's broked.

Or it's your RAM.

I did some googling (though no real time to do deeper research) and those BSoD/Stop Screens seem to imply malware issues.

decided to change the hdd, usedfor storage.
Seems to be ok so far, slows down when Itunes / calibre library starts. Assume due to how much info it has to read.

did think of malware issue as bios lost any evidence of my hdd.
Run Mse and Malwarebytes, did run superantispyware as well but ran out of licence and am looking for something to replace it with.

Anyone know of a good prog to see if hdd is failing. Mine is a Wd5000aaks 500gb. ??
found and using a WD prog. Funny it passes with flying colours   ??? ???

You use Windows, then you want sympathy.

You have mine.

Does not OSX have a kernel panic screen?

Not that I'm assuming you've ever seen one, you understand.

It may do.

... but it won't be blue.

But it may well be a BSOD.  Or a GSOD. Or even a DGSOD (dark grey).
