Razer DEATHADDER ELITE
« on: June 13, 2022, 11:56:25 PM »
I made a thread previously about mouse misclicks. The problem became significantly worse, but that mouse was stupid expensive and I didn't want to buy a new one.

I lucked out at the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) thrift shop, they had a DEATHADDER ELITE for three dollars. New ones go for about $46.

So I load it up and the RGB stuff is REALLY pronounced.

I did a system restore a few months ago, so I didn't have the razer software, and had to redownload.
The funny thing is they made me register the mouse, and that demands that you upload a jpg of your receipt. So I did, I uploaded the picture of the DAV receipt.

AND IT WENT THROUGH!

Once I had the synapse software installed (I'm not a big fan, it's pointlessly cloud based) I was able to dim the RGB, and lock it to one color. (I chose blue)

The mouse is really snappy, and the mousewheel has teeth, like a high grip bike tire.

I'd say if you can pick one up used, go for it. As to Razer products in general? Probably wouldn't recommend them. They've got a rep for lasting about as long as the warranty.

I've been a big Razer fan for years, back to the original Razer Boomslang ball mouse. I have no delusions about the Synapse software. It's cowpoo. That said, I feel v3 is better than v2. But that's really like saying poop pile 1 smells better than poop pile 2.

But I've been using a Naga mouse for years (12 thumb buttons on the side for 1-0, -, and =) so it's hard to transition back. I used my first Naga for years, even 2-3 years after the wireless died. Currently using a new Naga Pro (wired) and, while having the occasional unintended double-click, I'm extremely happy.

I've read lots about Logitech being better (at least in regards to a similar gaming mouse model) but I'm content for now. YMMV

No good to me, I only have one thumb on my mouse hand.

Maybe we all need implants, like Johnny Mnemonic.   8)

That's opposable.

Yup, I was using the 2011 mmo naga, but that double click thing was really annoying.

I don't know whether to applaud you or kick you.

I'd enjoy either one.
