The Movie Clue Game
« on: January 11, 2009, 06:10:29 PM »
Let's play The Movie Clue Game. Here are the rules:

1. Post 5 clues to a well known film.
2. You should post at least 1 clue per 24 hour period with a maximum of 5 additional clues. There is no reduction in points due to extended posting.
3. Correct answers are worth 5 points.
4. Wait for confirmation from the person who posted the original image unless you are absolutely sure and can post reasonable proof. Then please do, so the game can continue.
5. Call for a proxy if you cannot post an image, however you should refrain from guessing if you do not intend to post a follow-up.
6. You cannot guess on proxies made for you.
7. If after 7 days, all clues are posted, and the game isn't solved then the original poster scores the 5 points.
8. Post and update the scoreboard and add the name to the list of already posted items.

***After your guess has been confirmed by the original poster, you will have 60 minutes to post a picture or ask for a proxy. Following that initial 60 minutes, any player is entitled to proxy for you. 2 points are awarded for a proxy.  ***
Let's start with an easy one.

Genre: Crime

1. The movie is one of the firsts for the director and one of his most famous ones.
2. It is based on a popular novel.
3. The two main characters are played by a very famous actor and by a not-very-popular one at the time.
4. The movie received multiple awards.
5. One of the main characters (the same from clue 3) dies at the end while the other one takes his place.

Don't put off until tomorrow, what you can put off until the day after.

It would have been too much of a giveaway if I'd said "book later plagiarised by John le Carr? and the subsequent film ignored much of his novel in an attempt to be an "Our man from Havana" remake".

You're right. Carre didn't plagiarise it, he attributed the premise to "Our man in Havana".
