1602 AD is Free on Uplay... but it's broken.

Maybe subnautica spoiled me by working right out of the download, since box no longer applies.

But the uPlay Freebie, 1602, the precursor to the ANNO series, doesn't work.

Before downloading it, I watched a youtube vid to see if it was worth grabbing, reminded me of the AOE games. So I downloaded it. When I tried to run the game, it dumped me down to 4:3 resolution, loud sound effects came out of my speakers, and nothing happened. I saw some black and red, but most of the screen was my desktop.

Weird, confused, and broken. Sounds a lot like Ubisoft in and of itself.

Okay, got it to work. I had to close EVERYTHING but uPlay. Changing the resolution was possible in game, but you only get three options. To be fair, the game was released in 1998.

just one little time change so a draft board in 1968 turns down the bribe to accept "bone spurs" and we are home-free.
