...albeit sometimes by hook or by crook.  I suppose that's a bit like Maradona .. :)

Crooks? We had even worse than Maradona! Mr. Bilardo for example.  ::) ::) :-[

I understood the meaning well then. It certainly applies for Bilardo's methods.  ;D

Ahhh, the Hand of God!  ::)  Less than 5 min after that he made the Goal of the Century. Does this make up for what he did? Of course not. But I can't help feeling a sweet taste when I remember that.

As for every questionable incident that has happened in football (and.or all sporting events), it is ok when it's your team that does it and a ticket straight to hell if commited by the opposition.

In his heyday, Maradona was one of the most jaw dropping players I have ever witnessed, so I very nearly forgive him.

Hey, I don't think the USA will progress as Slovenia has one of the best defence in the tournament and might sneak through, and I am presuming that England will do well in the group stage.

Slovenia finished runners up in their qualifying group to Slovakia in a pretty weak group. Their two defeats coming against the Czech Republic and Northern Ireland. I don't think England (or the USA for that matter) will be losing much sleep the night before playing them.

The Ivory coast apparently looked really good in the African Nations cup when all others looked average, and I have heard quite a few pundits tip them as an outside chance so I will tick their games as 'one to watch' on my chart.

It said on the news earlier that Drogba's got a suspected broken elbow, that'll mean he'll have to change his diving style.

England are also about right at 7/1 I think as Capello does know how to win a game - albeit sometimes by hook or by crook.  I suppose that's a bit like Maradona .. :)

It also said on the news earlier that Ferdinand's injured already so England might have a chance after all.  :)

I'm not suggesting they'll go very far in the competition, they won't.  But you do know that they finished the qualifiers with the best defensive record, conceding only 4 goals in 10 qualifiers.  For that reason I think the USA will find it hard to score against them and Slovenia will probably barricade themselves into second position.  We'll see though.

It said on the news earlier that Drogba's got a suspected broken elbow, that'll mean he'll have to change his diving style.

I still think that the Ivory coast will play some of the better football out of the lesser fancied teams, and worth a watch.  I can't help liking Drogba you know, perhaps it is because as a West Ham fan, I like seeing what having someone that scores goals for a football team is like.

It also said on the news earlier that Ferdinand's injured already so England might have a chance after all.  :)

I have no idea what Ferdinand is all about.  Sure he's a big old defender with guts, but I'm pretty sure those attributes are simply job requirements?

England should win their group,Argentina should win theirs too.
If Argentina's squad is as good as 06's they'll be 2nd faves at least.
Who knows?
Haven't payed much attention to international football much lately.
At least i have 2 teams to root for.  8)

I loved Batistuta,he was an awesome player.
He scored quite possibly the best goal i've ever seen scored,it was a club game for Fiorentina against Arsenal.

The first team he played in was Newell's Old Boys from Rosario (my team and my hometown). He was discovered by Jorge Griffa and Marcelo Bielsa, the best football trainers ever.  ;D
